St. Moritz

Summer 1994

St. Moritz is a luxury alpine resort town in Switzerland and one of the best winter sports regions in the world. It has been host to two Winter Olympic Games and five Alpine Ski World Championships and known as the winter playground for the rich and famous.

Wengen/Grindelwald/Interlaken

July 1991

A pedestrian only town that is a perfect location for skiing in the winter or gorgeous green hikes in the summer. I loved just sitting on the balcony reading, I read Gone With the Wind during my time here in 2001. It is also a great spot for visiting the Lauterbrunnen Valley, Interlaken and up to the Jungfraujoch. You can see the three major mountains, Jungfrau, Eiger and Monch. Grindelwald is a gorgeous little town on the slopes and one you must stop and visit.

Wengen

Jungfraujoch was freezing even though it was July!

Nice little outdoor cafe in Grindelwald, the mountain almost looks fake!

I found Edelweiss!!

Ascona

July 1991

No one believes that there are palm trees in Switzerland but there are in Ascona. It is a pretty town right on Lake Maggiore and borders Italy, the Ticino region. It is not far from Lake Como and just as pretty. There is an amazing blend of Swiss and Italian cuisine that I really enjoyed.

Lucerne 1991

May 1991

I fell in love with Lucerne the minute I saw it. It’s exactly what you think a Swiss city will look like. I love the medieval buildings, gorgeous lake and white capped Alps as the backdrop. Plus the fresh, crisp mountain air was exhilarating!

It really is a pretty city.

Our first exposure to traditional Swiss music and fondue!

Fun on the lake

View from my hotel balcony!

View in the other direction

A bunch of us on the mountain

Gabby and I are happy with our room!

We also got to see the Rhine Falls, the largest waterfall in Switzerland and Europe!

Gruyere

July 1991

One of my favorite countries in Europe, Switzerland is so beautiful! I have so many pictures and have been there so often it is hard to post just a few!

The home of the infamous cheese and fondue! This was our first stop on our honeymoon in 2001.

The pedestrian only center of town.

View from our room looking out to the cow pastures. The bed was so comfortable and fluffy with so many layers of down and feathers you sank so far down. Hearing the cow bells in the distance and the church bells in the morning, I think it was the best sleep of my life.
