Oahu 1976

1976

We took a family trip to Hawaii and stayed in Waikiki at the Sheraton Waikiki. I remember being excited because it was the same hotel they stayed at in the Brady Bunch!

We loved Benihana because it was exciting and they actually did knife shows where they actually threw them.

More pics to come, have to find them!

Maui

April 2009

Maui and the Road to Hana

We flew business class to Maui and it was worth it for the long flight from New York. I didn’t want the flight to end I was so happy!

One of my meals

We were here for the Yahoo President’s Club

Felt good after a long flight!

Ka’anapali Beach is beautiful

We had beautifu accommodations at the Westin right on Ka’anapali Beach

Party time!

We spent the day exploring the center of Maui at the beautiful Iao Valley park.

A trip to the Dole Pineapple Plantation was so much fun and beautiful 🍍

Another night of fun and late night poker

The Grand Wailea in Southwest Maui is another great place to be, drier and less rain.

Downtown Lahaina

Another fun night and a sunset Luau dance

We dove today and saw so much but I loved the sea turtles the most, especially the young ones!

We drove the famous Road to Hana with leisurely stops at the fruit stands that are all over.

Lots of stops along the way to see black sand beaches and stunning coast lines. Remember the Road to Hana is not the destination, it’s the trip.

It was Easter Sunday so we made sure to visit some church’s along the way.

Just beautiful, Wai’anapanapa State Park

The main road in Hana

We stayed at the Hana Maui and it was so beautiful.

Fresh fruit plates at breakfast were a highlight!

Wailua Falls

The Oheo Gulch or Seven Sacred Pools was a nice walk and gorgeous vistas over the Pacific.

Hamoa Beach has a mixture of black and white sand, it was a perfect day

Hana is all about peace and tranquility, we spent the day at the resort and in the spa. Perfect send off to head back to New York.

Hallstatt

July 2001

HALLSTATT is the postcard perfect town that you always see of Austria. It’s just as beautiful in person.

The Bone House is pretty interesting. The graveyard here is so small that you are only buried for 16 years. Then you’re dig up and your family decorates the skulls and you go in the bone house! Then there’s room to bury more.

Our terrace over the lake.

I love this town, it’s so pretty!

Great place for a Stiegl

Vienna 2001

August 2001

Imperial Vienna is one of my favorite big cities! I could definitely live here. I love the opulence of the palace, the history of the monarchs and the empire, the architecture and the culture.

It’s worth the climb to the top of the tower at Stefansdom!

Hard to believe that the ceiling was blown away in WWII and it looks like this now. They are pictures from the devastation on display in the cathedral.

I love the Opera House and the inside is so gorgeous in gold and red velvet. The tour is a must, especially to see how the backstage works!

Belvedere Palace is spectacular but my favorite Hapsburg palace is Schönbrunn with its 1,440 rooms! Painted in the ubiquitous Austrian Maria Theresa yellow, it rivals Versailles with its opulence.

Wachau Valley 2001

July 2001

THE DANUBE – WACHAU VALLEY

The Blue Danube is not blue but it is beautiful, especially in the area of the Wachau Valley. Rolling hills with vineyards and crumbling castles line the river and their special Marille! Marille are what they call their type of apricot and they make so many things with it and even have a festival! My favorite is the Marillenbrand which is like a brandy or schnapps. I always take home a bottle of this and serve it at dinner parties.

The beautiful Melk Abbey is close to the town of Dürnstein where we stayed at the castle hotel.

Matthausen

July 2001

This was a sobering stop outside of Linz. Mauthausen was a concentration camp during WWII and was known for the Stairway to Death where prisoners were forced to carry heavy stone blocks up 186 stairs from the quarry.

Salzburg 2001

July 2001

Definitely my favorite country in all of Europe! I keep coming back here again and again and never tire of it. My favorite is the Saltzkammergut or Lake District in English, rolling green hills, gorgeous sparkling lakes, and spa towns with hot springs. If you’ve seen the Sound of Music then you know how beautiful this area of the world is. This trip was part of our honeymoon in 2001.

SALZBURG

Ready to go to the Marionette Theater to see Mozart’s Zauberflote.

St. Peter’s Abby is so pretty!
